We will be working to restore South Hero’s natural areas with a volunteer work party at Round Pond Natural Area.
Round Pond Natural Area is an approximately one-mile trail that is home to diverse natural communities, including Lake Shale Beach, Lakeshore Grassland, Lakeside Floodplain Forest and Round Pond Wetland, making it a crucial location for conservation in South Hero.
The goal for the day is to improve drainage at Round Pond by building boardwalks and shoveling the trail. We will also use clippers to cut back foliage growing onto the trail.
All are welcome, but please leave pets at home.
Please Bring: Water bottle, gloves (we’ll have extra), and clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. We have some hand tools to share, but if you have your own shovel, loppers, and/or clippers, it never hurts to bring extra just in case!
We will also provide snacks and drinks.
