We will be planting trees in the Rec Park on Tuesday 11/4 from 1-4 pm. Please feel free to join at any time you’re available. We will be meeting at the Folsom parking lot.

We have an order of trees we need to get into the ground ASAP. These new trees will be planted under the dying ash, which will maintain a healthy forest ecosystem for animals, plants, and humans to enjoy in the future!  

The Rec Park is home to about 5 acres of ash woodlands which are at risk from the emerald ash borer. We expect 99% of the ash to perish in the next 5 years. Since 2023, SHLT has been working on a comprehensive ecological restoration project at the park to protect the future of this town asset. 

Please Bring: Water bottle, gloves (we’ll have extra), and clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. We have some hand tools to share, but if you have your own shovels it never hurts to bring extra just in case! If you have kneepads those would be helpful to make the work more comfortable.
