The view from the top of Fox Hill

Join your friends, neighbors, and fellow SHLT supporters to celebrate 29 years of conservation and community with South Hero Land Trust! We’ll be gathering at Snow Farm Vineyard and Distillery on Sunday, August 2nd from 10:00 - 11:30AM. Join us under the big tent for coffee and locally-catered brunch, followed by some updates about our work and a few words from our Executive Director. We will finish our meeting with featured Speaker Mary Lake.

This gathering is free and open to all. RSVPs are encouraged.

Before the event is an optional nature walk at 9am led by Terry Maron and Gordon Coates, local Master Naturalists, and Sidra Hoffman, environmental educator and former SHLT intern. They will take us on a tour of the conserved woods and meadows, with options to stay on flat fields or to climb Fox Hill (the highest point in Grand Isle County).

About Featured Speaker Mary Lake: A South Hero native and graduate of Folsom, Mary Lake grew up with a sense of deep appreciation for farmers. She followed that passion into a career, and is now a well-known shearer, butcher and shepherd based in Tunbridge, Vermont. She raises sheep on her own farm, and travels across the Northeast for hire processing sheep, goats, pigs and small bovines. Mary works with the Vermont Sheep and Goat Association to promote healthy and efficient sheep and goat production. She leads shearing and butchering workshops to help other farmers learn ethical practices, and is a tireless advocate for sustainable food systems.
