Join us in restoring South Hero’s natural areas with a volunteer work party at the Landon-Round Pond Connector Trail. We will meet at the Landon Community Trail parking lot.
The Connector Trail connects the Landon Community Trail and Round Pond State Park and is approximately ⅓ of a mile. Come help us maintain this beautiful trail that is a great alternative for when Round Pond trails are wet. These meadows are important habitat and a great place to see cool wildflowers and birds at all times of year!
The goal for the day is to dig up wild parsnip, an invasive species around the trail. We will also use loppers to cut back foliage encroaching on the trail, as well as pull invasive honeysuckle and buckthorn.
All are welcome, but please leave pets at home.
Please Bring: Water bottle, gloves (we’ll have extra), and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. Long pants and long sleeves required for digging up parsnip! We have some hand tools to share, but if you have your own shovel and/or loppers, it never hurts to bring extra just in case! Feel free to bring binoculars to check out the cool birds in the area!
We will also provide snacks and drinks.
