Volunteer Work Party at the Gleaning Garden

  • Landon Community Trail 110 Landon Rd South Hero, VT, 05486 United States (map)

In a community conservation effort, we will be meeting at the South Hero Community Gleaning Garden, adjacent to Landon Community Trail, for a volunteer work party.

The Gleaning Garden, settled in the conserved Landon Farm, is a key area that allows people and programs to come together for community conservation projects. With our many partners, including Pigasus Meats, the Gleaning Garden remains a space for the community to grow food together.

The goal for the day is to build Hugelkultur beds, a method that uses decaying wood to create raised gardening beds. Hugelkultur is a self-sustaining gardening method that would be beneficial in this area for improved drainage. We will also be planting in our new garden beds!
All are welcome, but please leave pets at home.

Please Bring: Water bottle, gloves (we’ll have extra), and clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. We have some hand tools to share, but if you have your own trowel it never hurts to bring extra just in case!

We will also provide snacks and drinks.
